Reporting to the Physician Floor Leader, the Registered Dietitian provides adequate and efficient nutritional counseling to Fenway Health patients. This is a part-time position, working 5-15 hours per week. 

  

NOTE: Position currently involves some remote work including conducting telehealth visits with patients. Remote work hours and duties are subject to change based on patient demand, federal and state changes to work regulations, and payor reimbursement guidelines. 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: (offered BOTH in person and remotely via telehealth)

  1. Provide nutritional counseling to assist individuals of all ages with a full range of medical and psychological illness
  2. Work specifically with patients with HIV/AIDS, to provide counseling regarding nutritional needs
  3. Work with students regarding issues of nutrition and eating disorders
  4. Assist with nutritional management of patients receiving enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  5. Assist with the nutritional care of patients with other chronic illnesses such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, eating disorders and GI diseases.
  6. Participates in health center quality improvement efforts
  • Complies with Fenway Health Infection Control plan and ensures compliance by support staff
  • Participates in peer review and quality improvement processes

7.  Provides appropriate and timely documentation of clinical work

  • Maintains patient records in a timely manner in the electronic medical record
  • Completes forms and reports for insurance companies and other agencies, as needed

8.   Provides and maintains credentials to practice dietetic counseling

  • Maintains full registered dietitian licensure in MA

9.   Continues professional development activities

  • Completes minimum CME requirements
  • Participates in educational conferences with other practitioners
  • Actively participates in educational efforts through HMS and BIDMC
  • Participates in outreach programs
  • Provides supervision to Nutrition and Dietetics students and interns

10.   Meets agency participatory expectations

  • Adheres to all agency and departmental policies and procedures
  • Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested
  • Adheres to the highest principles of patient and client confidentiality
  • Adheres to established safety policies, procedures and precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situation
  • Attends all required meetings, in-services and professional trainings
  • Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities
  • Serves on agency committees and in professional organizations when requested

Requirements

 

  1. Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from a US regionally accredited college/university or foreign equivalent
  2. Current Massachusetts RD license
  3. At least one year experience working with diverse populations, including HIV/AIDS
  4. Experience working with an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse staff preferred
  5. Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals required
  6. Telehealth skills are required

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  1. No exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues
  2. Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required: sitting; using hands to manipulate objects/tools/controls; reaching with hands and arms; talking; hearing
  • Frequently required: lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs.
  • Occasional required: lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs.
  • Vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception, ability to adjust focus

3. Noise Level: usually conversational
