The National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center (Education Center) is part of the Division of Education and Training at The Fenway Institute, Fenway Health. The Education Center provides training and technical assistance (T/TA) in the form of educational programs, resources and consultation to health care organizations with the goal of optimizing quality, cost-effective health care to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and all sexual and gender minority (LGBTQIA+) people.

This position is grant funded through June 30, 2023 with the possibility of continuation.


Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Education and Training, the Education Center Project Manager will be responsible for programmatic management, building and facilitating relationships with health centers and key partners, tailoring curriculum, engaging faculty, organizing data collection, and providing technical assistance.

Representative Duties:

Sets and Manages Project Deliverables

  • Drafts and tracks the workplan progress for the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center
  • Assesses needs for project start-up and takes initiative to prepare logistics and processes
  • Oversees the development and revision of materials including recruitment materials, didactic presentations, case submissions, resources and evaluations
  • Makes purchases on behalf of the project, manages spending and expenses, and ensures spending is in line with the budget 
  • Supervises 1-2 project staff, and oversees the completion of tasks assigned to them
  • Manages and completes other tasks related to the projects as needed

Provides Technical Assistance

  • Identifies and implements recruitment strategies for participating organizations
  • Oversees recruitment efforts to reach recruitment goals
  • Screens potential applicant organizations and makes decisions about eligibility for participation 
  • Facilitates needs assessments and provides on-site or virtual tailored technical assistance
  • Develops PowerPoint presentations on LGBTQIA+ health topics
  • Delivers trainings on LGBTQIA+ health topics to health care organizations as needed
  • Prepares and facilitates trainings for faculty

Collects, analyzes and reports data and findings

  • Manages baseline and monthly survey data collection, tracking and reporting on impact of training programs
  • Tracks all T/TA events for reporting on attendance and reach of programs
  • Prepares trimester progress reports for funder

Develops and maintains key partnerships

  • Collaborate with HRSA Project Officer through monthly meetings and curriculum review
  • Seeks opportunities to work with new health centers and build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Manage the Ed Center Faculty Board including holding bi-annual board meetings
  • Works closely with Division leadership to align goals and strategic plans

  • Attends all required meetings, in-services and professional trainings
  • Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintain and provide agency with records of continuing education activities
  • Serves on agency committees and in professional organizations when requested

Maintains own professional growth

  • Enhances current knowledge of LGBTQIA+ health and HIV research by reading medical journals, articles and other LGBTQIA+- and HIV-related publications, attending conferences, seminars, forums, trainings and other available presentations 

Performs other related duties as required


  • Bachelor’s degree plus four years of relevant experience or high school diploma and 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced, cross-functional, management role
  • Strong interest in and basic knowledge of LGBTQIA+ health 
  • Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with colleagues, patients, clients and vendors across the spectrum of diversity, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, national origin and immigrant status, religious or spiritual identity, disability (physical, mental, emotional and developmental), veteran status, and/or limited English proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in public health, management, or other relevant fields 
  • Prior experience developing health educational resources and tools
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and computer (Microsoft Word, Power-Point, Email) skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for assignments and deadlines and to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully draft, implement, and complete complex workplans 
  • Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • Sit at a computer station for extended periods of time
  • Ability to type on a keyboard for extended periods of time

Supervision Responsibilities:

  • Directly manages one to two project staff
