COVID Nurse Manager

Reporting to the Executive Director of Nursing, the COVID Nurse Manager oversees the COVID testing and screening clinics as well as the COVID vaccination programs by supervising program staff and participating in the recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and training within the programs.  This position is expected to last 12-18 months, or as dictated by the pandemic and related funding.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee the operations of the COVID testing, screening, and vaccination programs at Fenway Health. 

  • Supervises COVID Vaccination Clinic Site Supervisors. 
  • Participated in the selection, onboarding, scheduling, training, and evaluation of RN’s, LPN’s, Medical Assistants, and other staff to ensure the efficient operation of the clinics. 
  • Develops and disseminates work and coverage schedules for RN’s, LPN’s, and other staff within assigned programs. 
  • Identifies operational problems and recommends and implements appropriate corrective action 
  • Oversees investigation of patient complaints that relate to program staff, as well as the design and implementation of corrective action when indicated 
  • Participates in budget development and monitoring 
  • Understands current and emerging factors related to the delivery of COVID 19 vaccination phases and eligibility.  
  • Ensures that assigned programs have access to adequate medical supply stock, PPE, equipment, and other supplies needed for program operations 
  • Ensures that COVID19 Vaccination Clinic Site Supervisors perform all of the following: 
  • Oversee the daily operations of the vaccination clinic to ensure the safe delivery of the COVID 19 Vaccine to patients and staff 
  • Assist with the selection, onboarding, training, and evaluation of RN’s, LPN’s, Medical Assistants, and other clinic staff 
  • Follow policies, procedures and Standard Operating Procedures for COVID 19 vaccinations. 

Ensures quality health care delivery within assigned programs  

  • Works with the Site Medical Director and the Executive Director of Nursing to develop and implement quality improvement goals and coordinate quality improvement activities within the Medical Department  
  • Facilitates communication throughout the clinical areas and across Fenway Health, primarily by interacting with managers from other Fenway departments. 
  • Assures compliance with all government and contract requirements for clinical services 
  • Reports issues of concern to, and meets regularly with, the Site Medical Director and the Director of Nursing 
  • Ensures a safe environment for the delivery of health care, including fire safety, occupational exposure, biomedical review of equipment, and proper use of equipment and supplies 

Effectively communicates with patients, co-workers on medical team, in medical department and across departments  

  • Participates in the COVID Clinical Leadership Team and Incident Command Management Team meetings, as well as other Nursing Department and general staff meetings. 
  • Collaborates with Nursing Supervisors, Managers, and Directors on relevant pandemic-related matters. 
  • Demonstrates competency in EMR, Microsoft Outlook, CareWeb and/or Care360  
  • Is available to meet with team members during assigned work hours  
  • Understands and abides by HIPAA regulations  
  • Demonstrates a commitment to strong customer service  
  • Ability to work as a team member 

Performs other related duties as required 

Requirements:

  • Education: BSN level or higher required 
  • A current Massachusetts RN nursing license is required 
  • Requires 2-4 years of experience as an RN, with at least 1 year of experience in a leadership role. 
  • Experience working in COVID vaccine clinics and/or testing programs, highly preferred 
  • Experience in project management preferred. 
  • The ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals is required 
  • Experience working in an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse environment is required
