Description:

Under the supervision of the YOF Site Manager works with YOF clients, YOF staff, Community stakeholders, service providers to support YOF operations in the center and ensures appropriate referrals to the program.

Representative Duties:

  1. Provide peer support services to clients by engaging them in conversations around risk reduction, positive prevention, and harm reduction techniques. Provide referrals to community resources and internal referrals to AAC programs.
  2. Work as part of an interdisciplinary team of client advocates, mental health clinicians and peer advocates and provide clients with appointment accompaniment and systems navigation.
  3. Assist with recruitment, outreach, and retention of clients, particularly LGBTQ homeless young adults who are disconnected from care and services.
  4. Assist with the creation, development, and facilitation of health educational trainings, remote programming groups, speakers bureaus, and other public events.
  5. Speak on behalf of the program to organizations, groups, and classes.
  6. Work with YOF Site Manager to create a personal and professional development plan.
  7. Provide peer support within a harm reduction framework and provide easily accessible, high quality and low threshold services to clients.
  8. Maintain the Drop-in throughout the day and ensure that the space is clean, organized, and stocked with supplies. Support the meal program, including cooking, cleaning, and/or assembling group meals.
  9. Participate in assessment, evaluation, and development of peer programming.
  10. Collaborate with other providers and health care clinics to connect clients to support services
  11. Meet agency participatory expectations
  • Adhere to all agency and departmental policies and procedures
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested
  • Adhere to the highest principles of client confidentiality
  • Adhere to established safety policies, procedures and precautions; enforce agency’s policies and clinical procedures, including safety and crisis procedures.
  • Attend all required meetings, in-services and professional trainings
  • Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities

Requirements

 

  • Experience of homelessness and ability to share personal experiences as appropriate and as needed.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups in diverse settings.
  • Social and cultural sensitivity with targeted populations.
  • Ability to advocate for self and others.
  • Good written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Experience with local services, and familiarity with issues related to substance use, homelessness, and mental health.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • Sit at a computer station for extended periods of time
  • Ability to keyboard for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform street outreach
